Abstract
An image analysis method was developed in order to characterize the fissurations made to a composite laminated epoxy-glass-fibres, to various damages. This method yielded both qualitative and quantitative information about the shape of the delaminations, as well as information on the orientations and densities of microcracks parallel to the fibres and transversal to the layers. Mercury porosimetry was used to confirm and complement this characterization.
The microfissure densities used in a mechanical model made it possible to compute the elastic coefficients of the laminate. The results are in good accordance with the experimental data.
