Variable reluctance hybrid magnet has been developed to apply new type of high torque motors. The variable reluctance hybrid magnet was constructed by a permanent magnet, electromagnet and yoke. From an engineering point of view, it is important to know the magnetic field around a variable reluctance hybrid magnet. Thus, we studied the magnetic field of strong hybrid magnet and torque of high torque motor. Based on the results of llux density measurements, the flux density with a ferromagnetic material above the hybrid variable reluctance magnet was higher than that without the ferromagnetic material. On the other hand, the torque of prototype hybrid motor was 4 times higher than that of normal motor at the same rotation speed (70 r.p.m) and same input power (3.0A).
