During electro-extraction of zinc from sulfuric acid solutions, hydrogen separation uses up 10 % of the electrolysis current. But when some noxious impurity like nickel is present, one can observe an important decreasement of zinc extraction output. The use of organic inhibitors provides new perspectives for zinc extraction output, even in presence of impure solutions.
This article presents the effect of 2-butyne 1.4 diol upon polarisation curves of hydrogen separation on zinc and nickel in sulfuric acid 0.1N to 4.0N.
