State of the art of intelligent materials systems
Etat de l'art des systèmes de matériaux “intelligents”
(MIT, Dept Aeronautic, Cambridge)
The lecture presents an overview and assessment of the technology leading to the development on intelligent structures. Intelligent structures are those which incorporate actuators and sensors that are highly integrated into the structure and have structural functionnality, as well as highly integrated control logic, signal conditioning and power amplification electronics. Recent progress will be reviewed in the following areas : high strain actuation materials, sensor design and optimization and packaging of components into an intelligent ply.
In addition, larger scale applications of intelligent structures will be presented, including in active aeroelastic aircraft wings, and active precision optical benches.
