Abstract
We are concerned with the use of neutronic diffraction for stress analysis in adhesively bonded joints and comparison with usual results obtained by experimental and numerical way. The studied specimen is the one-lap, bevelled edged one, undergoing a traction force; the adherends are made of the alloy A U4G and the adhesive is a monocomponant one of epoxy type. Some basic formulae about neutronic diffraction are put in evidence in the framework of the tensorial theory of elasticity. Some experimental results with or without lacunas in the joint are deduced from the electrical extensometrical gauges method and compared with the neutronic diffusion method. A numerical approximation based on the finite element method is also provided. A particular attention is eventually payed to the residual stresses in the specimen.
