Abstract
One of the major problems encountered in the building trade is that of the corrosion of copper domestic water supply pipes. In particular the corrosion encountered at brazed joints : galvanic corrosion between the brazing and the copper.
This galvanic corrosion depends on the composition of the brazing, but also on other parameters : quality of the water, temperature, flow velocity.
By application of multivariate statistical analysis (principal components analysis and factor analysis plan in 2n) four brazings which have a different electrochemical behaviour in the chosen experimental conditions (soft - hard water, 20-60°C, flow velocity 0-1,5 m/s) were selected from 14 brazings.
