Abstract
The aim of this work is to study the influence of inorganic factors on the evolution of stainless steel free corrosion potential in natural seawater. The factors assessed are: composition of stainless steel, seasons, hydraulic regime, temperature (20°C, 30°C and 40°C) and presence or absence of oxygen. Additional polarization studies have also been carried out. The results of these experiments have shown that the evolution of the potential is not influenced by the stainless steel composition or the hydraulic regime. At 40°C, the potential doesn't increase. The presence of oxygen in the medium is necessary. The evolution of potential is correlated to an increase of the cathodic current.
