Abstract
This study deals with the comparison of the laser welding resultsas far as the quantity of resulting ferrite in the melted area is concerned. Two types of lasers are tested: pulsed and continuous.
All the tests performed with the pulsed laser show a generalized presence of ferrite in the weld. The tests performed with the continuous laser give better results though it does not perfectly meet the objectives.
The ferrite precipitation induced by the laser welding on grade which composition does not correspond to a sufficient stability of the austenite during the welding, comprises an unacceptable increase of magnetic susceptibility in the melted metal.
