Abstract
A water spraying system is used for cooling 50 mm diameter nickel samples. Surface flows of fluids are evaluated with the aid of different techniques in order to characterize the homogeneity of the jet. The thermal homogeneity of the sample is measured for each cooling configuration. The wetting temperature of the heated surface is characterized versus the surface fluid flows and versus the temperature of the water. The results obtained from this study are of real interest for any industrial installation (especially in metallurgy) using water spraying.
