Abstract
An electrochemical test which measure the porosity of a nickel deposit on copper substract is described. In this method, the sample is treated anodically in such conditions that the current passed almost entirely via the basis metal exposed in pores. The required conditions were determined by analysis of electrochemical comportment of nickel and copper in test medias.
This test is being used to study the effect of process variables on porosity. Some preliminary results are given to illustrate porosity evolution as function of deposit thickness and compared to those obtained by an electrographic test.
