Contribution to the study of Ni-Cri-Mo steels ausforming treatment

Abstract
Among possible thermomechanical treatments, ausforming consits in the plastic deformation of the metastable austenite, for steels — like grade 35NCDI6 — with a wide space between perlitic and bainitic transformation domains in the TTT diagram (time, temperature, transformation rate).
The deformation is obtained by forging, hammering or rolling. Mechanical properties can be improved up to a 2300 MPa UTS, with a 10 % elongation and a 80 MPa√m toughness. A well-known steel offers properties of a new material.
