Soudabilité d'alliages Al - Li - Cu - Mg1
Weldability of Al-Li-Cu-Mg Alloys
GIAT/ATS, Centre de Recherches des Matériaux, Tarbes
Abstract
The weldability of two aluminium-lithium alloys: CP271 (8090) and CP276, welded by gas tungsten arc (GTA) process, has been investigated. First results show that :
- —
the welding of T851-treated alloys leads to important weld porosity, which is related to a 0.2 mm surface layer formed during solution heat treatment;
- —
tensile strength joint efficencies (JE) of 50 % were obtained without post welding heat treatment or after artificial aging. By repeating the entire heat treatment of the alloy, JE could be increased up to 80 % ;
- —
stress corrosion behaviour is sharply influenced by the post-welding heat treatment.
