Zusammenfassung

Der grösste Teil stranggegossener Brammen wird zu flachgewalzten Produckten verarbeitet, vor allem zu kaltgewalztem Blech und Band. Diese Gruppe wird stark beeinflusst durch den Bedarf der Automobilindustrie. Ein Grossteil der Zunahme bei Grobblech geht auf den steigenden Energiebedarf zurück (Schiffsbau). Ein Teil der Produktion aller dieser Kategorien wird zu geschweissten Röhren verarbeitet.

Die geschilderten Beispiele zeigen, dass beim Stranggiessen von Brammen Qualitätsaspekte im Vordergrund stehen, sollen alle Vorteile des Prozesses voll genutzt werden können. Dazu gehören die hohe Gleichmässigkeit der Produkte, Einsparungen von Material und Energie, bessere Arbeitsbedingungen, Voraussetzungen für die Automatisierung, etc.

Abstract

Most continuously cast slabs are ultimately converted into flat-rolled products, mainly into cold-rolled sheet and strip. This categorie is very much dominated by the fortunes of the automobile industry. Much of the growth of heavy plate steel grades has been stimulated by the growing need of energy (ship building industry). Some material of the production of all these categories goes into the manufacture of welded pipes and tubes.

The examples given show that quality aspects have to be given top priority if all of the benefits of the continuous casting route are to be obtained in full measure, namely high product uniformity, savings on material and energy, better working conditions, viability of process automation, etc.
